PGRS BACKS RESTRUCTURING INTO 25 DIVISIONS ALIGNED WITH PARLIAMENTARY SEATS

PETRUS

PENAMPANG: Vice Chairman of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) N.26 Moyog Division, Petrus C. Mojuntin, has expressed full support for the decision by party president Hajiji Noor to restructure the party’s management from 73 divisions to 25 divisions in line with parliamentary constituencies.

He described the move as a timely and strategic step to ensure the party remains agile, efficient and effective in a rapidly evolving political landscape.

Petrus said the restructuring goes beyond administrative adjustment and reflects a broader strategic transformation aimed at strengthening organisational capacity and delivery.

“I fully support the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor. The transition to a 25-division structure is not merely an administrative change but a strategic evolution that underscores the commitment to building a party that is not only large in numbers but also strong in management and execution,” he said in a statement today.

He noted that aligning divisions with the 25 parliamentary seats would create a “one parliament, one command” structure, eliminating overlapping jurisdictions and ensuring a clearer chain of command ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16).

Petrus said the reduction in divisions would also enable more efficient allocation of financial, logistical and human resources, particularly at the grassroots level.

“A leaner structure will reduce bureaucratic processes, allowing for faster decision-making and more responsive action on local issues,” he added.

He said the restructuring would further enhance coordination among State Legislative Assembly (DUN) areas within each parliamentary constituency, fostering stronger collaboration and a more cohesive political machinery.

In addition, Petrus said the approach would improve monitoring of development initiatives and infrastructure projects, in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya agenda.

Describing the move as part of the party’s preparations for GE16, he said it reflects PGRS’ readiness to strengthen its organisational framework and move towards a more focused and results-driven structure.

“In Moyog and the wider Penampang area, this presents an opportunity to further professionalise our political work, improve engagement with the community, especially the youth, and ensure continued stability as the foundation of Sabah’s progress,” he said.

He also called on party members to embrace the transition positively, with the shared goal of securing a strong mandate for the party leadership in the upcoming general election.
