“We hope to get it done in time for the commemoration of ANZAC Day which falls on April 25,” she said. (ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand).

Liew, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, said Phase Three will see the enhancement of the neighbouring Taman Chong Thien Vun under DBKK’s proposal for improvement works on the park.

The Api Api Assemblywoman, who was accompanied by Api Api Community
Development Leader Grace Lee and the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer Josephine Chin, agreed to look into the request for a Police Pondok (Police beat base) to be located at Kg Air to beef up the level of security for locals and tourists alike.

“We will identify a strategic spot for the purpose, and construction of this facility is expected to take place in Phase Four,” she said. Present was Sub-Inspector Rashidi Nawawi.

Meanwhile, Liew hoped that the old concrete canopies of shop houses at Kg Air would be replaced with awnings while suggesting mural painting by the shop houses as a tourist attraction.

“This will give the shop lots a clean and beautiful look,” she added. –ENDS
