The courtesy visit of the Sabah State Health Director to the Minister of KPMKR yielded positive results

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah State Health Director Dr. Asits bin Sanna paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Community Development and People’s Welfare, Datuk James bin Ratib on Monday.


The visit was made after he was appointed as the new JKNS Director replacing Datuk Dr. Rose Nani Mudin who is compulsorily retired.


Also participating in the courtesy visit was the Deputy State Health Director (Public Health), Dr. Maria Suleiman; Deputy Director of State Health (Medicine), Datuk Dr. Abd. Kahar bin Abd. Asis; and Deputy Director of State Health (Pharmacy), Dr. Liau Siow Yen.


Among the essence of the courtesy visit is a discussion on the direction of health development in the state of Sabah.


These include initiatives to improve poor clinics and upgrade the status of several hospitals in Sabah to state hospitals, major and minor specialist hospitals as well as the issue of a shortage of health workers serving in the state of Sabah, especially the positions of Medical Officers and Nurses.


At the same time, Dr. Asits also respectfully invited James to inaugurate the 15th Public Health Colloquium of 2023 on 26 September 2023, held at ITCC Penampang, Sabah.


At the end of the meeting, the two leaders expressed the hope that the close collaboration between the Sabah State Health Department and the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Well-Being can be maintained and manifested through excellence in the delivery of health services to the people of Sabah.
