SATTA ALMANAC 2020… Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew (left) receiving a copy of the SATTA Almanac 2020 from the President of the Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (SATTA), Datuk Seri Winston Liaw during a courtesy call this week.
THE 204-page colourful Yearbook is published by SATTA with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and Sabah Tourism Board (STB).
Journalists from the Chinese media have also contributed articles for the publication which documents tourism highlights in Sabah and
SATTA’s promotional efforts.
In an interview by the Editorial Committee, Liew, who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, said China has become the largest source market for tourists in Sabah, among other foreign countries.
She attributed this trend to geographical factors and the ‘Enchanting Sabah’ tagline that projects the natural beauty and attractions of Malaysian Borneo.
“Upon reflection over the last 20 years, the number of international tourists in Sabah has increased by nearly four times, from 1.1 million in 2000 to more than 4 million in 2019,” she said.
