KOTA KINABALU: Five PBS Api Api Division strongmen have resigned from the party and declared their support for Warisan Plus and PKR Api Api candidate Datuk Christina Liew.
They are Danny Tham (ex-Division Vice-Chief & Api Api Community Development Leader), Ng Tan Fook (ex-Division Information Officer & Press Secretary to the Ministry of Development and Information Technology, now renamed Ministry of Education and Innovation), Randy Wong (ex-Division Youth Chief), PBS Central Youth Treasurer & Special Officer to SabahNet Chairman), ex-Api Api Kapitan Cina Au Len On and ex-Api Api Kapitan Cina Lim Hing Yen.
The five were staunch supporters of PBS Api Api candidate Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai. Their resignations were announced by political activist cum lawyer Chin Tek Ming (who is Yee’s former right-hand man), at the Meet-the-People session at 888 Food Court on Wednesday night.
“We, including myself, have quit the party to throw our support behind Warisan Plus and especially (Datuk) Christina Liew of PKR who is defending her Api Api seat. I call on the voters to make the right choice when they go to the polls on Saturday (September 26). Vote for Christina, the only lady among nine candidates vying for the state seat.
“Don’t just say ‘support, support, support’. Translate your words into action by casting your ballot for her,” said Chin who announced his resignation from PBS two weeks ago.
In her speech, Liew stressed that Warisan Plus must win with a big majority to ensure that the coalition is returned to power with Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as Chief Minister.
“We don’t want any more disruptive changes. Vote for Warisan Plus for integrity, unity and stability. We cannot afford to have another episode of party jumping. We have to move on in our pursuit of continued socio-economic development for Sabah and her people,” she said.
