KOTA KINABALU: The communities in Luyang and surrounding areas, who have yet to register, are urged to visit the COVID-19 vaccination registration counter this Saturday (May 8) at Shop Lot 1-01, Block B at Damai Plaza from 8.30am to 12 noon.
Api Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew said the counter will be set up by the Api Api DUN Office in collaboration with St John Ambulance Malaysia (Sabah).
“In carrying out the exercise, we will comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Government. There will also be free blood pressure checks for the public,” she said.
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Chief Minister said the risk of dying from COVID-19 is higher than the risk of death from the vaccination in encouraging the communities to take advantage of the registration exercise.
“I want to allay the people’s phobia about the vaccination as a result of negative stories circulating on social media about people having died after receiving the jabs. “There could be underlying medical problems. We cannot simply jump to conclusion unless a post-mortem has been conducted to ascertain the cause of death,” Liew said.Â
According to Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr Timothy William, there are only seven out of one million people taking the vaccination, who will have severe allergic reaction or adverse side effects. He said this is based on data from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
