KOTA KINABALU: Another 448 families from the Api Api Constituency each received 10-kg bags of rice, eggs and other foodstuff from Api Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew at the premises of Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) as the distribution centre on Saturday afternoon.
The families included those of frontline staff and workers of DBKK and Sabah Parks, residents of Sembulan Tengah, Bukit Punai and Taman Sabar (Luyang), senior citizens, single mothers and hawkers. Representatives from 11 groups of beneficiaries received on their behalf.

The distribution was handled by Api Api Community Development Leader Grace Lee and her team from the constituency’s Community Development Leader Unit (Api Api UPPM), assisted by staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment.
Liew, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, said the food aid was made possible by an allocation from the State UPPM under the Chief Minister’s Department. The handing over of the food supply was witnessed by City Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman and State UPPM Director Haji Abdullah Mirun Sahirun. Also present was the Director-General of DBKK, Noorliza Awang Alip.

Meanwhile, members of the public who walked in were asked to register themselves for the food assistance programme. “Api Api UPPM staff will
inform you of the date, time and venue where you can collect the foodstuff,” she assured them. –END–
