Programe held under KPMKR to empower woman entrepreneurs, NGOs: James

KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing, Datuk James Ratib said various efforts are being done to empower women across the state.

He said, departments under his ministry including the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA), General Welfare Services Department (JPKA), Sabah Community Development Council (MPMS) and PEMADAM are constantly on the move to achieve this goal.

James who is also Sugut Assemblyman was speaking when attending the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Empowering Target Group Entrepreneurs Program at the lobby of Wisma Tun Fuad Stephens, Wednesday.

This program was held to help empower female entrepreneurs, especially from the B40 group, the disabled and NGOs in the state.

It is held in an effort to promote and market their local products after the outbreak of Covid-19, at the same time generating and increasing this groups’s sources of income.

The program is under the guidance of KPMKR departments and agencies consists of JHEWA, JPKA, MPMS and PEMADAM.

In the program, 18 stalls were opened to women entrepreneurs from the KPMKR target group to promote and sell their products.

The stalls will be opened for 1 month and will be considered to be extended if there is an encouraging response.

Various types of products, especially food, raw materials in addition to booths that offer foot massages by visually impaired people are among the highlights of the programe.
