KOTA KINABALU: Api Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew hailed the State Government’s readiness to hold the State Legislative Assembly sitting at any time when the situation permits.
On Friday, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Assembly would be ready to reconvene under strict operating procedures (SOPs).
He said he had held a discussion with the State Assembly Speaker following the King’s decree that Parliament should reconvene as soon as possible.
Liew, who is a former Deputy Chief Minister, said the sitting would provide an opportunity to elected representatives from both sides of the political divide to share thoughts on managing the COVID-19 pandemic, and bringing the state back to normalcy in the long run.
“The State Assembly sitting is the right platform for elected representatives to raise questions and seek answers from the Government on economic policies, development plans and issues relating to the people’s lives and livelihood,” she said in a statement, Saturday.
The State Assembly sitting was last held in December 2020 to debate and pass the 2021 State budget.
