Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce(LCCC) President Wong Kii Yii paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, in Putrajaya recently
He also invited the minister to an official visit to Labuan Island.
Datuk Wong accompanied by Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce Vice President and Labuan Foo Chow Association (LFC) Chairman Cheng Cho Chung and LFC Deputy Chairman Wong Tung Sumg and handover the invitation letter to minister to arrange an official visit to Labuan as soon as possible itinerary.
According to Wong, Tiong also instructed him to submit a proposal on the development of Labuan tourism as soon as possible in order to seek the approval of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar before visiting Labuan.
He said Tiong is very concerned about and understands the difficulties and feelings faced by businesses on the island, especially the development of related tourism operators, so he promises to provide assistance.
Wong was invited attend a Temple Function in Sibu and invited Tiong who was present at that time for visit to visit Labuan .
“The Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce has formally sent a letter to invite Minister to visit Labuan to help promote and promote the development of tourism on the island.” Said Wong.
He has received many complaints, especially after the hotel, catering and duty-free industries that are closely related to the tourism industry have experienced two years of severe epidemic and the government has implemented various new regulations that are not conducive to the development of the tourism industry.
The measures have deterred tourists, and all walks of life have been hit hard.
“We hope Dato’ Seri Tiong can personally visit and understand the difficulties faced by the tourism industry on the island, and also bring a new development direction for the tourism industry on the island, so that Labuan can implement the government’s development as the main goal as soon as possible.
