LABUAN: Lions Club of Labuan Mandarin, a non-profit organization that operates LIONS House of Love, with Integrated Care Management Sdn Bhd (ICM) and I-Bakery has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to manage the operations of the Labuan Senior Care Centre, and a training centre for special children.
The MOU signing took place at LIONS House of Love (Rumah Kasih Lions) , Kg Layang-Layangan recently.
Integrated Care Management Sdn Bhd currently manages two care centres, namely Comfort Aged Care Centre in Likas, Kota Kinabalu and Kanaan Home at Petagas respectively. Incorporated in 2017, it specializes in developing aged care services by managing aged care centres and providing training programs to develop competent and trained aged care givers.
I-Bakery, operates daily by producing bakery products to be sold and implementing a donation or charity program into their business plan to support the good cause of Labuan Mandarin club.
Labuan Mandarin is thus proud to announce its official collaboration with Integrated Care Management Sdn Bhd by providing a senior friendly environment with guided activities and physiotheraphy in a safe surrounding filled with nature and a sense of calmness and with I-Bakery to provide a platform for the special children to learn baking skills plus an opportunity for a career placement.
Club President, Dato’ Lawrence Ting is pleased to announce the start of operation for Labuan Aged Care Center on 1 January 2023 for day care services only and looks forward to the start of another community effort with Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan (MAIWP) on a dialysis center at LIONS House of Love itself.
“Plans to phase 2 into residential care is in the planning. Hopefully with the support of the community and local authorities, we are able to solicit enough funds to put this plan into action.” he added.
This center will give the elderly a sense of belonging to enables them to live a higher quality of life until the end.
Meanwhile, Kent Chau, Director of ICM said, Physical activity is a key part of active aging and the association between exercise and physical health is important to maintain physical fitness, and it can promote mobility, prevent falls and also provide access to opportunities that help personal independence.
“ Physical activity (PA) is considered a key part of maintaining quality of life and successful aging as there is abundant evidence that individuals who engage in higher levels of PA tend to have higher health-related quality of life scores and better physical health” he said.
Therefore, Labuan Mandarin Lions Club, in line with its objective and commitment to the community will give its support to ICM and I-Bakery.
The successful partnership of ICM, I-Bakery and Labuan Mandarin serves as the first step towards a long and collaborative partnership, who both share the importance of elderly care services and special children development shown through their vision and mission statements.
