Increasing support for Liew from Malay voters

Shouts of “Harapan” and “Nombor empat” (Liew’s number on the ballot paper) from the village folks as they pose with Liew (5th from right) during her political rally at Batu 2, Lorong Abdul Rahman in the Apas state constituency.

TAWAU: There is clearly increasing support for PH candidate for P190 Tawau, Datuk Christina Liew from the Malay voters in the Apas and Balung state constituencies as polling day approaches.

In a random survey, the voters said they are all for Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister because they want a change of government and a new Prime Minister to take Malaysia to the next level.

They are enthusiastic about the PH candidate winning the Tawau seat to enable PH to form the new government.

In fact, the name ‘Anwar Ibrahim’ is a selling-point on Liew’s campaign trail from Day One.

At the mention of his name, the people would roll in euphoria. As Liew, who is the incumbent MP for Tawau, entered a coffee shop in Sri Tanjung on Friday, she was greeted with shouts of “Kita Boleh”, while a patron told the former,

“Ask Anwar to come to Tawau.”

Everywhere, the people’s hope is for Anwar to change the political landscape and to transform the country, economically speaking. Wherever Liew goes during the election campaign, the high cost of living that is burdening households is on the lips of many people.
