KUALA LUMPUR: Member of Parliament for Tawau, Datuk Christina Liew said she is listening to the voices of the rakyat, particularly those in her constituency as well as in the Api Api State Constituency.
She gave the assurance from a hotel here where she is undergoing a mandatory 14-day quarantine after the first Covid swab test at the KLIA Health Office, followed by a second test later, in preparation for attending the parliamentary sitting of the 14th Malaysian Parliament.
“Being a fairly active person, lockdown can be hard to live through, especially when there are so many things on the ground that require urgent attention.
“I have to remind myself that adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) is one critical way to do our part in breaking the chain of Covid-19 infection.
“I want to assure you that I have heard your requests for urgent aid. I may not be able to physically be there now, but our officers at the Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre are working hard to meet your needs.
“I am in constant touch with them to monitor and direct these activities,” Liew, who is also Api Api Assemblywoman, said in a statement issued here, Monday.
Constituents in the Tawau parliamentary constituency, who require help, are advised to contact Fung Thin Yein at 012-6114700 and Robert Penggai at 011-33807901. Those in the Api Api State Constituency may contact Grace Lee at the Api Api Constituency People’s Service Centre at 019-8819270.
“Sadly, our resources are limited and demand will always outstrip available resources at this time, especially now that we are in the Opposition,” Liew pointed out.
She, however, assured that in order to ensure the people’s needs are adequately met, the officers concerned will also try to direct them to the relevant government agencies for the necessary aid wherever applicable.
“I know this is a hard time for everyone now. Let’s try to get through these trying times together with patience, kindness and hope. Stay safe and keep the faith,” she said.
