KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew extended Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri greetings to the Muslim community in Sabah.

She said it is that time of the year for family bonding, strengthening ties and seeking forgiveness from one another.

“Given our multi-racial society and religious tolerance, this is a joyous occasion for everybody.

“Patience is a virtue as we fight a common enemy, and look forward to better days ahead once we pull through this crisis together.

“When our lives will return to normal depends on how soon we can break the chain of COVID-19 transmission,” she said in a statement, Friday.

Liew, who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, expressed her appreciation to all frontliners in the essential services for their sacrifices.

Meanwhile, she reminded the people to be aware of safety concerns, and to not allow self-complacency to set in as long as we are not out of danger yet.

“We have to adapt to new norms such as wearing a face mask, using hand sanitiser and safe social distancing. Do continue to take the necessary precautions and practise heath care standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Travel safely if you need to go from one destination to another,” Liew advised.
