KOTA KINABALU:  Christmas gifting for the children at the Likas Women and Children’s Hospital is a traditional yearly event organised by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl (RCKK Pearl).

The Club’s Community Service team led by Community Service Director Tulip Noorazyze brought Christmas cheer to some 242 children recently. Also present was Immediate Past President Eliza Goh.

There were 180 gift packs for children in the Pediatric Ward and 62 other packs for those in the Pediatric Oncology Ward, apart from 18 packs of Drypers and 44 patchwork blankets.

On hand to receive the festive goodies were Head of the Pediatric Oncology Unit Dr Asohan Thevarajah and Matron Amrata of the Pediatric Department.

According to Tulip, the gifts of colouring sets, packet drinks and confectionery were packed by RCKK Pearl member Azalene Quadra and her team of teachers from Sunshine Kindergarten.

“Our member Doris Lim and 14 friends volunteered to sew the beautiful patchwork blankets for the babies. They used new cotton and flannel material for the babies’ comfort,” said the Community Service Director.
