TAWAU: The food basket programme is picking up steam in the Tawau parliamentary constituency under the National People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih).

The constituency covers the state constituencies of Sri Tanjung, Apas and Balung.

On Friday, Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew and Sri Tanjung Assemblyman Justin Wong jointly gave out food aid to the Chinese community living in the poorer areas, other families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and senior citizens in need.

Also present were the Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein, Women Bureau Head Lucy Lo and Tawau DAP officials.

Meanwhile, Liew, who is also Api Api Assemblywoman, urged the Health Ministry (KKM) and State Health Department (JKN) to ensure that the vaccination programme in Tawau will go on uninterruptedly.

“The Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre has been receiving calls daily from local residents who have registered for vaccination but have yet to receive their appointment date,” she said.
