UNLEASHED SIMRACING 2025 BREAKS BARRIERS WITH MALAYSIA’S FIRST FEMALE-ONLY CATEGORY

KUALA LUMPUR: – Malaysia’s simracing scene is set to make history this month as Unleashed Youth Simracing Championship 2025 introduces the country’s first female-only category — a groundbreaking step forward for inclusivity in local esports and motorsports.

Organised by Cove Circuit and powered by title sponsor Castrol, with Toyota Gazoo Racing Malaysia as the official automotive partner, the championship will take place from 15 to 17 August 2025 at Sunway Pyramid, Kuala Lumpur. The event is open to young racers aged 18 to 24 and aims to redefine the boundaries of digital motorsport through a bold celebration of identity, youth culture, and innovation.

“This isn’t just about racing. It’s about rewriting the script,” said Jeevan Raj Menon, Founder of Cove Circuit. “For too long, women have been seen as spectators in motorsports — now they’re getting their own dedicated grid. Unleashed is fearless, unapologetically Gen Z, and proudly Malaysian. We don’t just run races; we build purpose-driven platforms.”

The female-only category will compete alongside the main championship, with its own podium and winners crowned during the Grand Finale. The initiative is widely regarded as a milestone for female representation in esports — not only in Malaysia, but potentially across Southeast Asia.

Launched through campus roadshows in the Klang Valley and now expanding to Penang and Johor Bahru, Unleashed 2025 has grown into a rallying platform for Malaysian youth. The championship blends competitive simracing with music, fashion, and self-expression, transforming the traditional esports event into a holistic cultural movement.

With a strong focus on empowerment and accessibility, the tournament is rooted in Cove Circuit’s guiding principle: Race With No Risk — a commitment to safety, digital inclusion, and youth well-being. Simracing, according to the organisers, is more than a sport; it serves as a powerful tool for personal development, helping young people build confidence, social connections, and emotional resilience.

“Simracing meets youth where they are — digitally, emotionally, and culturally,” said Jeevan.

Founded in 2018 in Bandar Sunway, Cove Circuit has since evolved into the country’s largest and most established simracing hub. With 42 professional-grade racing simulators across its two outlets in Sunway and Cyberjaya, the centre offers high-performance virtual racing experiences and plays a pivotal role in cultivating Malaysia’s esports talent.

As Unleashed 2025 gears up for its most ambitious edition yet, all eyes are on the virtual grid — not only for who takes the chequered flag, but for how this movement drives real-world change in the landscape of Malaysian motorsports.
