KOTA KINABALU: Food vendors relayed their wish for longer business hours to Api Api Assemblywoman Datuk Christina Liew during the latter’s visit to the Api Api Night Food Market on Saturday.
She was there to extend Chinese New Year greetings and her commemorative 2022 calendar to the people.
She said the vendors want to cash in on the business that is apparently picking up after being in the doldrums.
“The Chinese New Year festive mood is already in the air. Local tourists are starting to throng the gaily-decorated venue. I hope Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) will consider the vendors’ request for longer business operation hours,” Liew told reporters after her visit.

Meanwhile, she reminded the stall operators to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the authorities to avoid creating any new Covid-19 clusters.
“Stay healthy and safe. Wear your face mask at all times and use hand sanitisers while managing your business,” she advised them.
On Sunday, Liew visited the Gaya Street Sunday Market which she described as one of the prime spots here and a crowd-puller to weekend travellers to the state capital. She also distributed her calendar to shopkeepers along the street.
She was accompanied by the Api Api Constituency Liaison Officer Grace Lee.
