LABUAN: Maybank International Labuan Branch (MILB) organised the Cahaya SPM Masterclass: SPM Answering Technique as part of its Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiative to assist students in their preparation for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
The programme brought together 40 students from 8 schools across Labuan, providing practical guidance on examination techniques, answering strategies and effective approaches to tackling SPM questions.
The masterclass featured focused sessions on three important SPM subjects – Sejarah, Bahasa Melayu and Mathematics, conducted by experienced educators who shared valuable insights, examination tips and subject-specific techniques. Students also had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers through interactive discussions and Q&A sessions. In addition to academic preparation, the programme aimed to boost students’ confidence and readiness by equipping them with skills to better understand examination requirements, organise their responses and manage their time effectively during examinations.
The programme also underscored the importance of collaboration between the corporate sector and educational institutions in supporting student in Labuan. MILB extends its sincere appreciation to the Jabatan Pendidikan Labuan for its invaluable support and collaboration in making the Cahaya SPM Masterclass a success.
The Cahaya SPM Masterclass builds upon MILB’s earlier educational initiative, the Cahaya Book Drop: Book Giveaway programme, which was held on 22 July 2026. Through the initiative, reference books were distributed to 80 beneficiary students to improve access to essential learning materials and reduce the financial burden on underprivileged families in obtaining educational resources.
As part of a continuous and interrelated effort to support students’ academic development, the Cahaya Book Drop programme focused on providing the necessary resources for learning, while the Cahaya SPM Masterclass complements this by equipping students with practical examination techniques, answering strategies and valuable insights to maximise the use of those resources.
MILB plan to also have Maybank Global CR Day 2026: Cahaya Future Ready next month as part of the series of programme for the students to assist them on student career prospect in the future. Together, these initiatives reflect Maybank’s holistic approach in supporting educational excellence by addressing students access to quality learning materials, effective examination preparation and future career prospect in helping students build confidence and enhance their readiness for the coming SPM examination.
The event was also graced by the presence of the General Manager of Maybank International Labuan Branch, Nor Rashidi Mohammad; UMSKAL Director, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Bahari Shamsudin; Deputy Director of the Student Development Sector at the Labuan Federal Territory Education Department, Imbran Yunus; and the Head of the Student Affairs Division at UMSKAL, Nur Iman Reedzal.
