A delegation of participants from IPGMK Kent who successfully completed the Borneo Half Marathon event recently
TUARAN: The Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Kent Tuaran (IPGMK Kent) had honored the outstanding participation of its students in the recent Borneo Half Marathon event, held in Kota Kinabalu on 4 February 2024.
A total of 52 dedicated students from IPGMK Kent volunteered for the event, demonstrating their commitment to community engagement and sportsmanship.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 students showcased their endurance and spirit by actively participating in the 11km men’s open category and women’s category of the Borneo Half Marathon.
Florence Satiau, representing the Kadazandusun Language option, achieved an impressive 5th place in the 11 km women’s open category, showcasing exceptional talent and determination.
The success of our students would not have been possible without the invaluable collaboration of Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu and the Kinabalu Running Club (KRC), whose support played a pivotal role in the event’s success.

The Director of IPGMK Kent, Dr Hamidah Samsudin, emphasized the significance of such activities in nurturing and honing the students’ 21st-century skills.
She expressed her gratitude to all lecturers and students, who dedicated their time and effort, highlighting their unwavering commitment to excellence.
Dr Hamidah also extended her appreciation to the lecturers and staff from IPGMK Kent, namely Jabatan HEP (Department of Student Affairs), Unit KoKum (Co-curriculum Unit), and Jabatan STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Department) for their commitment to liaise with the Borneo Half Marathon’s organizers.
Special recognition goes to Excellent Lecturer Special Grade C, Dr Chiam Sun May, Senior Lecturer DG 54, Santana Rajan Perumale, and administrative staff, Mohd Faizal Katok, for their role models in completing the 21km senior veterans/veterans category.
“Their participation not only showcased dedication but also inspired the entire IPGMK Kent community,” she said.
