TAWAU: Food packages are being distributed to families in need in stages here under the Movement Control Order (MCO), said MP for Tawau, Datuk Christina Liew.
She said her Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre was working closely with the Apas Community Development Leader Unit (Apas UPPM) to get the distribution exercise started on Monday.

“Please be patient. Although we have closed the Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre temporarily in view of the Movement Control Order (MCO), my official representatives – the Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer (Fung Thin Yein), Liaison Officer (Robert Penggai), Community Development Officer (Samuel Fung) and their team – are on the ground sending face masks and foodstuff to those in need.
“I have been advised by the authorities against travelling to Tawau in line with the MCO which calls for restricted inter-district travel,” she said in a statement, Wednesday.

Liew, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, urged the people of Tawau to keep calm and follow the guidelines in the MCO which has been extended
to April 14.
“Do not compromise on your health and that of your family. Do not come out of your house unnecessarily. Stay home to avoid the risk of getting infected by COVID-19. And please practise good personal hygiene,” she advised.
Should the public here need assistance, please call Mr Fung at 013-8844700 or Mr Robert at 6011-33807901.- END–
