TAWAU: Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew has contributed 80 food baskets for the children of the Aokam Tawau Benevolent Care Centre which cares for the needs of deaf and autistic children.

On hand to welcome the MP, who visited the care centre on Wednesday, was Dr Lo Vun Kong, the Chairman of the Society of the Deaf. The centre is under the care of the Society. Parents were present to receive the food aid.

“I hope the food assistance will help ease the burden on families from the B40 income group.  Life is difficult for them. But as we transition from a pandemic to an endemic state (which means the coronavirus is here to stay), and look forward to a return to normal life soon, we must continue to adopt good health practices,” Liew said.

She noted that the management has complied with the standard operating procedure (SOP) in the running of the Tawau Benevolent Care Centre.

Meanwhile, Dr Lo, on behalf of the Society of the Deaf, expressed his appreciation to the Tawau MP for her contribution.

Earlier, Liew visited the Sin On Market where she met with the vendors who lamented about poor business.
