TAWAU: About 400 people attended the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House gathering organised by the Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre at the Sri Titingan Isnaji Restaurant here, recently.
Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew, who graced the occasion, welcomed the guests from various races, including the Tionghua community.
“All festivities are regarded as a unifying factor whereby people from all levels of society get together for a feast amid a warm and cordial atmosphere. This is one platform where we foster racial integration, irrespective of colour or religion,” she said.

During the event, Liew made a donation of RM1,000 to the Tawau Reporters Association in support of the association’s activities. On hand to receive the sum was its Chairman Tan Chin Cheng, witnessed by Deputy Chairman Woo Soon Fatt.
Meanwhile, the MP received an invitation from the President of the Federation of Chinese Associations, Tawau, Datuk Dr Lim Teck Kiong to officiate at the 21st swearing-in ceremony for the Federation’s Executive Committee on May 15.
Also present were the Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein and other officials from the People’s Service Centre.
