KOTA KINABALU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat Sabah urged the Federal and State Works Ministry to pay attention to the Maintenance of the Road from Tuaran to Ranau which is the main route for the people of this state as well as local and foreign tourists.

Our visit to Kundasang and Ranau last Saturday found out that the road conditions were getting worse and there were critical and dangerous areas that needed immediate maintenance before unwanted things happened.

We do not want this road issue to affect the State Government’s efforts in realizing the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Roadmap which focuses on key area including the Tourism Sector with the support of the Basic Infrastructure Network such as well -maintained roads.

THONNY CHEE….Deputy Chief of Information Sabah State Leadership Council, People’s Justice Party

We urge the Federal Government to increase the Federal Road Maintenance allocation in the state by focusing on key routes especially the critical segments that need immediate attention.

Apart from that, we would also like to remind the State Government, especially the Ministry of Works, that the status of the state’s roads, which are 22370.95 km long, is only about 48% paved. 2673.11 km of rural roads are still 34% gravel roads and 11% basic roads.

Therefore, we urge that the issue of roads in the state should be addressed as best as possible in realizing the Sabah Maju Jaya Roadmap which established the mapping of Infrastructure Network Masterplan of based on Nodes and Hotspots that will be the driver of the state’s economic area.

Finally, we ask the Ranau Member of Parliament and the State Assembly members to voice the issue of Road maintenance to Ranau in Parliament, the State Legislative Assembly and the Cabinet Meeting for immediate action.
