TAWAU: Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew said she will look into the need to upgrade the premises of the Tawau Chinese Women Association (TCWA).

The former Deputy Chief Minister said this after receiving a letter of application for a grant from the Association President Wong Mui Ken, here, recently.

“It is an old building which has existed since the formation of the association in 1989. The current leadership wants to improve the facility for the benefit of members post-COVID-19,” Liew said.

According to Wong, the Tawau MP, who is the Founder Chairperson of TCWA, was instrumental in raising funds from the public and the government for establishing the premises which also housed a kindergarten at one time.

“The Tawau Chinese Women Association was running the pre-school institution from 1994 but it ceased operation some years ago when its pupil enrolment dwindled. We hope our elected representative will consider our application,” she said. -MC
