TAWAU: The Christian communities from rural churches here have expressed their gratitude to Tawau MP Datuk Christina Liew for her contribution of free milk powder for toddlers and young children from needy families.
Members of the Baptist Church, Basel Church and True Jesus Church located at Kg Serudung Baru, and others from St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Kg Kuala Nansang gathered at Dewan Serudung Baru in the Balung State constituency for the Milk Powder Distribution Programme this week.
“We are fortunate to have a caring elected representative who remembers us during this difficult period. This is her third visit to our area since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the mothers after receiving milk powder packs from Liew.

The Tawau MP also presented her contribution to Muslim communities at Kg Kurnia Jaya, Kg Hj Sundu, PPR Taman Sri Apas, Kg Saddani, Kg Sri Titingan and PPR Sri Titingan, among others.
“Although our MP is a Christian, she is just as concerned for the well-being of Muslim residents, and cares to visit us during this movement control order (MCO) period,” a thankful village spokesman said.
Liew was assisted by the Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein, Liaison Officer Robert Penggai and volunteers.
By Friday (March 19), some 1,000 milk powder packs had been handed out to families in need here.
