JCI Labuan raises funds to help fire victims

LABUAN: Junior Chamber International Labuan (JCI) through the ‘Call For Help’ Program managed to raise funds of RM1,588.00 donations from the public to help the victims of the quarters of one of the construction companies on Jalan Rancha-Rancha, near Kian Yap Housing Park, on Tuesday.

According to the Chairman of the Organizing Call for Help, Christy Sim Fui Jia, within 48 hours of the program successfully received a total of RM1,588.00 donations from several individuals who are concerned about the fate that befell the workers.

“As a result of the donation, JCI Labuan has successfully purchased the necessities needed by the victims and handed them over to the victims through the assistance of the Labuan Social Welfare Department (JKM)” he said in a media statement, on Friday.

He said, JCI Labuan would like to take this opportunity and thank all kind-hearted donors for their contribution in helping the affected victims.

 “Nonetheless, we would like to urge public to strictly adhere to the social distancing requirement imposed by the government of Malaysia to break the chain of Pandemic Covid’19” he added. 

Last Tuesday, a total of 105 victims involving 56 families were left stranded when three blocks of a construction company’s quarters on Jalan Rancha-Rancha were destroyed in a fire.
