KOTA KINABALU: The Minister of Community Development and People’s Well-being (KPMKR), Datuk James Ratib took the opportunity in conjunction with Ramadan by distributing Bubur Lambuk to several mosques, government employees and NGOs near here on Tuesday.

A total of 1,200 packets of Bubur Lambuk were distributed in conjunction with the ‘Program Ukhuwah Ramadan’ jointly organized by JHEWA, SWISE and Adabi at the Wisma Wanita Parking Hall near here.
Bubur Lambuk was also distributed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Welfare, Datuk Sr Lee Chun Khiong and the Director of JHEWA, Hjh Haslina Ismail.

According to James, among other things the purpose of the program is to foster the practice of mutual cooperation, volunteering, as well as forming a sense of identity among the government through its employees.

“It is also to fuel commitment and cooperation between the government, NGO associations such as SWISE and ADABI in carrying out such welfare activities in the future.

“In addition, this program also benefits the target groups, namely the local community, mosques, madrasahs, Wisma Wanita residents and agencies under the KPMKR,” he said.

James, who is also Sugut Assemblyman, said that the main objective of the Program Ukhuwah Ramadan is to cultivate a caring and responsible society with excellent services towards the prosperity and well-being of the people.

“This program is also one of the welfare efforts of the government and the NGOs who are always committed to fighting and defending the fate of the people which covers the entire community regardless of race and political affiliation.

“It is seen to be able to close the relationship between the Government and the Association of NGOs in order to be kind to the people out there,” he said.
James hopes that the Program Ukhuwah Ramadan will be expanded further so that all target groups will benefit.

“We also hope that this program will become an annual program so that more women’s NGO associations in Sabah come forward and cooperate with the Department of Women’s Affairs in line with the hope of improving the welfare of the people of Sabah,” he said.

Bubur Lambuk packs through the program will be distributed to Nur Hidayah Taman Keramat Mosque, Kg Likas Jamek Mosque, Tanjung Aru Al Kauthar Mosque, Al-Falah Kepayan Mosque, Sabah Islamic Waqaf Madrasah and agencies under KPMKR.
