Financial aid and provisions for fire victims in Tawau

TAWAU: Member of Parliament for Tawau, Datuk Christina Liew gave out financial aid and provisions to fire victims from 40 families at Kg Haji Sundu, Batu 2, Jalan Apas, here, Sunday.

Briefing Liew, Bomba Senior  Superintendent II, Sukur Hatta said nine wooden homes were razed, rendering the people homeless in the fire which broke out last Wednesday afternoon.

Six vehicles and four motorcycles were also destroyed in the incident.

Liew, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, visited the fire victims housed in tents at the village balairaya.

Speaking to the victims, she advised the household heads to take good care of their families.

 Bomba Tawau Zone Chief Zulbada Alior later led the Minister to the site of the fire.

The Tawau MP was accompanied by the Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) Deputy President, Tony Koh who represented the President and Tawau Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer, Fung Thin Yein. 

Also present were Liaison Officer Robert Penggai, Apas Community Development Officer, Samuel Fung, and Secretary Steven Chan of the Tawau Parliamentary People’s Service Centre. End
