KOTA KINABALU: Media practitioners are also frontliners as they go about gathering news for dissemination of information to keep our society well-informed, amidst the threat of COVID-19 infection, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
“Even after the Movement Control Order (MCO) has been lifted, we must continue to wear face masks for protection until the pandemic goes away,” she said during her visits to media organisations here, on Thursday and Friday.
Liew, who is also Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, personally handed over 1,000 pieces of face mask to every media outlet in town, comprising the mainstream newspapers, electronic media and national news agency.

Meanwhile, Sabah Journalists Association (SJA) and Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA), which also received their share, expressed their appreciation to the Deputy Chief Minister for the Government’s contribution.
“The face mask has become a daily necessity for all working journalists. SJA would like to record our special thank you to Datuk Christina Liew,” said SJA President Datuk Muguntan Vanar.
Said KKJA Chairman Yong Ted Phen : “A vote of thanks from our Association to the Deputy Chief Minister for her concern for the well-being of the press.” –Ends
