JAKARTA: Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd (Bank Rakyat) has taken a significant step in extending its footprint to Indonesia through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Bathi Rakyat Abadi.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, who witnessed the signing ceremony, described the collaboration as a remarkable milestone that underscores the shared commitment of both nations to foster meaningful partnerships within ASEAN and beyond.
“The signing of this MoU is not merely ceremonial. It represents an initial yet significant step that reflects the shared aspiration of Malaysia and Indonesia to empower communities, broaden financial inclusion and strengthen the cooperative movement across borders,” he said in his speech.
He noted that Malaysia and Indonesia are bound by deep cultural, historical and economic ties, with both nations’ cooperative movements playing a pivotal role for decades in driving social empowerment and enabling communities to achieve economic independence through collective efforts.
“My heartfelt congratulations to Bank Rakyat and PT Bathi Rakyat Abadi for this bold step in strengthening Malaysia – Indonesia cooperation. I encourage both parties to nurture this partnership with consistency, transparency and a strong sense of purpose,” he added.
