KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Industrial Commercial Service Employers Association (MICSEA) will organise a national online webinar and a series of free labour law compliance clinics aimed at assisting small and medium enterprise (SME) employers to better understand and comply with Malaysian labour laws.
The initiative follows MICSEA’s recent engagement on labour law compliance issues highlighted in national media, with the association taking a proactive approach to address gaps in awareness and practical understanding among employers, particularly within the SME sector.
MICSEA said a two-hour online webinar will be held on 29 January 2026, open to SME employers and human resource (HR) practitioners nationwide. The webinar will focus on the basic rights of employees under Malaysian labour laws, providing practical explanations to help employers better appreciate their statutory responsibilities and day-to-day HR obligations.
SME employers and HR practitioners can register for the webinar through MICSEA’s official website at https://micsea.org.my/.
As a further extension of the initiative, MICSEA will also conduct HR Compliance Clinics (Tele-Consulting) on 10, 11 and 26 February 2026. The clinics will offer one-to-one tele-consultation sessions, allowing employers and HR personnel to seek advice on labour law and HR compliance matters relevant to their organisations.
MICSEA said the tele-consultation services will be provided free of charge as part of the association’s ongoing commitment to promoting responsible employment practices, enhancing compliance awareness and supporting SMEs in navigating regulatory requirements.
Commenting on the initiative, MICSEA President YK Lai said employers should not be left to manage labour law requirements on their own, particularly in light of recent developments.
“Many compliance issues can be prevented through early awareness, practical guidance and open dialogue. MICSEA’s role is not only to highlight concerns, but also to equip employers with the knowledge and tools needed to comply confidently and sustainably,” he said.
MICSEA encouraged employers and HR practitioners to take advantage of the programmes, stressing that proactive engagement, early clarification and continuous learning are key to building compliant workplaces, strengthening employer–employee trust and avoiding unnecessary disputes.
The association added that by investing time in understanding labour obligations, employers can foster fairer, more transparent and productive workplaces, while contributing to long-term business resilience and industrial harmony in Malaysia.
