“This event is an annual event organized by MPMS but this event was not held in 2000, 2021 and 2022 because the country was faced with the test of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“Alhamdulillah, this year we were given the opportunity to resume this event with great faces who remain steadfast in contributing to the field of volunteering and welfare.
“I feel grateful and happy to see all the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) especially the Welfare Voluntary Organizations who are always with my Ministry, organizing and planning welfare and community programs in this state,” he said.
According to James, the theme of Charity Month in 2023 is “Malaysia’s Core Community MADANI” very much coincides with his ministry’s efforts to encourage cooperation and community involvement to build a caring society.
This effort, he said, is in line with the MADANI concept that has been formulated as the Government’s effort to map out a strategy to govern the country effectively.
“The togetherness of all levels of society in this effort is highly expected so that no one is left behind, in order to be able to build an inclusive society, thus increase the impact in providing services to the community,” he said.
In relation to the event, James who is also the Sugut Assemblyman representing the Sabah State Government and all the people of this state expressed their gratitude for the approval of His Excellency Tun and Toh Puan who have agreed to present the Anugerah Sukarela Kebajikan dan Sumbangan Ikhlas Tahun 2023 to individuals, corporate bodies and organizations charity that has contributed a lot in devotion and finance for the welfare and well-being of the community.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation and congratulations to all award recipients; Charity Volunteers, Young Volunteers, Sincere Donations and the recipients of the 2023 Certificate of Appreciation.
“Hopefully this effort will be an inspiration to more individuals and corporate bodies out there to help the vulnerable in need and then be able to respond to the Government’s call to be more sensitive to the needs of the local community and foster a harmonious and caring society,” said James.
